How Long Does It Takes To Charge An Electric Car

Electric cars are growing day by day in the current generation. Many car manufacturers like Ford, Nissan, Tesla and Mitsubishi released many small and large electric vehicles. There are many advantages of electric cars. All the pollution, i.e., harmful gases released from the combustion of fuel does not exist with the introduction of electric car. The noise pollution developed by the fuel burnt car is very high when compared to an electric car. The only problem we face with the electric car is the charging time and the related issue is the price.

I will mention some cars and the charging time of each car depends on the price of the car and the quality of the car.
Nissan LEAF consists of lithium-ion batteries. The same lithium ion batteries are used for laptops and mobile phones. The battery charges are 220 Volt or 240 volt Nissan charging dock. It will take around 8 to 10 hours for the car to make a complete charge.

Tesla Roadster also uses the same lithium-ion battery but the 240 Volt high power charger is used for charging the battery. This will take around half the time taken by the Nissan LEAF like 3 to 4 hours.
GEM known for Global Electric Motorcars uses lead-acid battery and it is charged by 110 volt outlet. This takes about 6 to 8 hours of charging time. The main advantage of this is the speed that can be attained by this car. The maximum speed that is achieved is 40 kilometers per hour.

This is the same as we charge the mobile phones. There are many improvements in the charging time like quick charge, dash charge and many more.

Level 1 charging are usually used outlets in our homes. These cars can move around 100 miles and can charge overnight. This type of charging is suitable for cars like Chevrolet Volt which is a hybrid car. Level 2 charging usually takes around 4 to 5 hours of time and is expensive when compared to level 1 cars. The level 3 charging is the fastest charging option that is available and it may cost very high up to 100,000 dollars. You can easily travel 50 miles of distance with just a span of 10 minute charge but you also need more power supply for your home. There are many other factors namely output capacity, battery, type of battery, model, temperature of the battery and surrounding temperature. The temperature also effects the charging time.

Tesla introduced new cars like TESLA S which helps you to travel much longer distance with just a few minutes of charging. There are many charging stations for the electric cars or hybrid cars to charge their cars. They can be found using the google maps or the tesla website. Tesla is also trying to use the swapping battery technique for specific cars. Once the battery is completely charged, you can use that battery. But when the battery percent comes to 10 or below, we can go to a Tesla station and swap the completely charged battery with ours. This will just take 2 minutes but you need to pay for charging the battery. There are many other latest assumptions and will be updated in the further posts.
